PSA: Leave The Kiddies At Home!

I attended the Rush concert here the other night, box seats, nice. I've noticed a disturbing trend though, people bringing their children to hard rock concerts. I don't mean 12 year-olds, I mean little kids. I personally think this is a bad idea for everyone involved and would like to politely ask VH fans who are parents to please not bring the kids this time. Van Halen is not family oriented entertainment.

This has been a public service message.

The Peter Frampton gig tonight was a little subdued because of the "Family Environment." There were a boat load of kids having a ball there, and not one of them seemed to be in my way all night.
But then there was a moment when I wanted to sing certain lyrics to Do You Feel Like We Do that I dare not sing because of the children surrounding me. Frampton did not sing those choice lyrics because of the "Family Environment."

I would not expect to see as many children at the Van Halen concerts, but they will be represented. Hell, I am really indifferent to this issue. At least a boat load of little kids in 2007 can say, years from now, they were at a Frampton concert. In that regard, the kids that show up to the Van Halen concerts are a bunch of very lucky people.

Well that's the issue, isn't it? Any parent who brings their kid to a VH show can not bitch about anything they're exposed to.
BTW, I think Frampton is a lot more subdued than early on overall, the same league with Elton John when it comes to the family factor.

Gotta disagree with you. My son (aged 7) is a HUGE CVH fan and will be going to the Philly show on 10/1.

In this day and age of hip-hop and other steaming piles of shit that pass themself off as "music" I want my son to cut his teeth on REAL rock, and get an understanding of what it's like to see actual musicians with talent doing amazing things with their instruments.

There's no better way to do that than by taking him to a CLASSIC Van Halen show.

He's already seen Largo '82 and the US Festival boots, and he's brimming with anticipation to see it with his own eyes. He knows what to expect, and some of the language is no different than what he's heard at home (not proud of that, but it's the truth...)

Shit...if Eddie could have his (then) 13 year old son PERFORM back in '04, then I can certainly have my 7 year old WATCH it now.

Who knows if this is DLR/VH's last time around? They claim that this is not a "one off", but things could change. I don't want my boy to miss a chance at seeing DLR/EVH showing everyone how they changed the face of hard rock back in the 70's and 80's.

My kids, now teenagers, both grew up on CVH coming from the speakers. As a result, they really want to go. You be they are going with me--and we will have a great time. Personally, I rather see teenagers there than middle-aged men who dress and act like teenagers and apparently think it is still the 80's. However, I would agree that bringing a 5 year old to a VH concert is nothing short of irresponsible.

Well if their the kind of kids that sneak into the closet in order to find your pile of Playboy mags and try to snatch your beer can every now and then, I think they can handle VH. But if their a bunch of whiny brats who wanted to see hannah Montana, do not bring them!!!

When I bought tix for the Charlotte show, I contemplated very hard about buying one for Sparkie Jr. She's eight and loves Van Halen. Ultimately, I decided not to not because high volume tends to upset her and she will not wear earplugs. I'm still second-guessing my decision cuz she would be one lucky kid to witness history like that.

Same here, although we try to reserve the f-bomb for late nights and I try to refrain from calling Tiki a cunt in her presence.

Well there were kids who went to see CVH back in the day, although every one of them went without their parents permission and most were either juvenille delinquents or hated school. :D

Yeah, my oldest jinglette (9 yrs old) also loves CVH, but I just can't see her going.

I'm bringing my 11 year-old son to the concert. He's into Van Halen, Zeppelin, GNR, AC/DC, etc. I'm just glad he's not into all the corporate bullshit that is being pumped out these days. He's also been watching the Largo show and can't wait for Oct. 28 to roll around. He WILL be wearing earplugs to protect his hearing as any young person should.

Jr.'s grades gave him the right to demand a ticket to opening night!

He is one lucky punk ass, and knows it, huge CVH mark he is.

Shit, my parents did not let me go to a concert until I was 13.

Fortunately, by the time VH arrived on the scene, I was already in the army, and did not need their permission to go!

                            Pathetic............

I don't go to your Seseme Street events, why drag these punks to Van Halen. "They love classic Van Halen".............sure they do!!

This has gotten downright silly. At a recent concert, Jr. in front of me, about 12 started crying because it was too loud. Mom and Dad couldn't control him, what a joke of a night.

This will get to the point that it will start to effect ticket sales. Then sanity will return and perhaps the minimum age for a concert will be 16 or 18.

Fuck off. Don't judge all kids by the one brat you happened to be witness to one night. I guarantee my son will be rockin' with the rest of the arena.
