Are there any dates where this festival is over 2 days?

If so then VH could headline one day, and this mystery band the 2nd. That would make sense. Soundgarden are due to tour, so that could be likely.

As for another band boosting VH, it would have to be big name in rock: Green Day, Metallica (unlikley to tour next year, plus they toured 'down under' last year), Muse.....

U2 and the Stones don't need a festival - they can play the stadiums and earn more without 'em.

Well, it's not U2. Apparently they announced their Australian tour dates late last week, and it's in December. (also in Auckland on November 25 for Dan and any other Kiwis in the house)

I could see Metallica taking the top spot from VH. Not in my eyes mind you. But they are a fucking hugely popular band that actually dishes tons out to their fans. Too much if you asked me. U2 yeah. Stones yeah. But that's about it really. Unless Led Zep reunites, there really isn't anyone big enough in the same genre of music to take the top billing from VH.

Would be great to add Megadeth to the show. My two favorite bands in one night. Damn. I'll start swimming to Australia now.

Well, if Joe Strummer were still alive, I might think they brought The Clash on board, just to revive a little US Fest nostalgia

It just doesn't make any sense, from any perspective. VH signs a deal to headline a festival, then a few months later gets bumped by say...OZZY, Metallica, Megadeth or the Scissor Sisters. Wouldn't this more or less void the agreement and lead to a legal battle? And if VH went along with it, how on Earth would they go about saving face before, during and after the show?

There aren't many bands they could throw on as a headliner above Van Halen at this kind of a festival. Chickenshit defintitely is NOT one of them.

Stones don't appear to be touring this year so they're out.

U2, maybe? They have "plans" to tour Australia, but no confirmed dates, according to a Murdoch owned website from Adelaide. The article also indicates they would be leaving part of their mammoth "360" stage down under, due to shipping expenses. Why not cut the expenses altogether and not even take the huge stage, if you could sign on to an existing festival.

Yeah, i'm sure it will be alright, but one way to get VH off the bill would be to put Chickensoup on it!

How are ticket sales? I don't think this but is the show selling like a dud? If so, that would make sense why promoters would try to get a huge name at the last minute.

But these festivals have several stages. Even what they call the "main stage" might not truly be what we consider the main. They might have VH and the biggies playing on the REVOLUTION STAGE or something like that that would trump the main stage. Festivals with shitloads of bands and multiple stages are always run a little weird. Hope we get some clarification on this fast.
