In '74 when VH took up residence at Gazzarri's the only thing on at the Roxy - for a long long time - was The Rocky Horror Picture Show, featuring a then unknown singer known as Meat Loaf. I often wonder if he, or even Alice Cooper and Keith Moon, and even John Lennon, who were all propping up the bar in The Roxy back then in 74, ever stuck their noses into Gazzarri's to see if there was any action. It was practically next door.

I see it in my head - John Lennon looks through the door. Van Halen are playing some dance tune, and he says to Moon, 'fuck this, it's just some bunch of nobodies'.

All I can say is that it's going to be quite refreshing to finally hear some new music from Van Halen.

I think from Ed & Al's perspective it boils down to they weren't obligated to do anything once the WB contracts ran out. Dave has always worked for his dinner...

The Brothers had their regular royalty checks flowing in. spEd had his merchandise and licensing income from his gear producing cash flow. The last tour generated a healthy retirement fund for all 4 members. I figure half of em... and the cuntrolling half were cuntent... Butt...

But then there's Dave who's clearly not ready to retire... and what the hell is that 20 year old kid gonna do?

Bottom line... Ed & Al aren't motivated enough to leverage the net and social media. Dare I say it... but Dave has never quite had a good handle on the power of the net either. Wolfie he's 20... WTF does he have a care in the world over business wise..?

And since I waver between FW and VHII as my favs.....I figure the fight between the two sounds will be fine. FW is more complicated and just as raw, while VHII has the Punk and the Raunch as well.
