This photo tells me that Wolf absolutely belongs in this band. He's beaming. He makes a good appearance. His youthful exuberance can only help what the elder members are attempting to pull off these days. Now I'm not a big fan of nepotism in the work place, but this ain't the work place. This is rock and roll! My daughter is 8 and an amazing kid. If 8 years from now, I can find a way to joyfully earn a living while doing something artistic with her, I don't think I'd ever have to worry about retiring because I wouldn't want to!

I'm excited about this version of Van Halen. It truly does seem as if all of the silence and careful planning is about to pay off immensely. Hats off boys! Now go out and kick some ass!!

Ok, this looks promising... plenty of music industry corporate muscle and contracts requiring the band to be productive.

Makes one wonder WHY the band was so unproductive in terms of lacking communication to the masses. VH/DLR still operate as if its 1984 because it sounds as though they were not going to be visible or have any sort of PR if they didn't have a record company backing them. Which is not needed these days with the way social media works. Guess Wolf didn't tell them that.

Another one of those classic genius posts, sure to generate responses. You log on the next day to see what your witty gem has produced to find no one gets it and 2 knotheads want to stick their dicks in it... Well played, sir!!

VH self promotion means surprise or nothing.

These guys HAD to bring Dave back, or they'd be FUCKED.

                Just saying.

It's true... I learned this about a month ago when I posted 'happy birthday, Sam, I hope it's your last one'. Some people have no sense of humor.

I think from Ed & Al's perspective it boils down to they weren't obligated to do anything once the WB contracts ran out. Dave has always worked for his dinner...

The Brothers had their regular royalty checks flowing in. spEd had his merchandise and licensing income from his gear producing cash flow. The last tour generated a healthy retirement fund for all 4 members. I figure half of em... and the cuntrolling half were cuntent... Butt...

But then there's Dave who's clearly not ready to retire... and what the hell is that 20 year old kid gonna do?

Bottom line... Ed & Al aren't motivated enough to leverage the net and social media. Dare I say it... but Dave has never quite had a good handle on the power of the net either. Wolfie he's 20... WTF does he have a care in the world over business wise..?

I think if you put links in your posts at VHND they are probably automatically filtered out through whatever screening they use (automatic or human) - might have been something like that that caused your comment not to appear (when it first appears after posting, it is just in your browser, not on the public page I assume).

I've made one or two posts that never appeared and contained nothing insulting or even moderately profane in them, and my initial reaction was bafflement, until I realised it was probably that I had put links to external sites in them.

Overall, it comes down to simple Economics 101. The News Desk is indirectly tied in to the Van Halen Store. Now if a good amount of the merchandise you are selling is directly related to members of a band (both past and present), then it more than likely makes good business sense not to piss off that particular group of folks, and by proxy, their lawyers. From an editorial standpoint alone, this can create some fairly dicey situations when it comes to reporting bad news, which is something that tends to weigh in more heavily than the good when it comes to Van Halen. For always being up front about his motivations, as well as for being able to pull off this high wire act, I believe Jeff should be commended. I for one certainly wouldn't (and do not) want the headache.

                                Roxy, Rainbow, Gazzari's.

Did VH ever play the Roxy back in the 70s? I don't think they did ...
