Yeah, whatever it ends up being I really don't want it to be a false attempt to sound like something else.

That's a disturbing trend I have noticed on rock records over the last few years. I read a quote that most producers these days try to "Make everything louder than everything else". What you really end up with is a shitty, muddy album that's unlistenable at more than moderate volumes.

Yeah, I think crap like that has made artists lazy and the end product reflects this, consequentially people pick up on this at some level and their reaction is lukewarm. This and the permeation of every waking second of our adult lives by cell phones have killed the music industry. Grownups are like two year olds these days who can't go for five seconds without talking to another needy-assed person. BUT I think a genuinely exciting album can get people engaged in music again, even if only between phone calls.

I want an album that is the movie equivalent of "Clerks". IMO one of the most entertaining movies ever made and doesn't need to rely on digital effects (or even color) and production values. Unfortunately most music now is a bloated, fake, over-hyped piece of shit like "Wild Hogs".

Al's Drums will be in your face and up your ass... Other than Peart there's still none better on the skins.

Song structure... what you won't hear is Hagar's blue collar simpleton, cheesy melodies... nor Cherone's eclectic, failed artisticy bullshit. What I expect to hear is Diamond Dave's unique blend of melodic interplay vocally with Ed's near-genius approach to rhythm guitar, peppered with his fretboard fireworks of fills and riffs from hell... Lyrically it will have tongue-in-cheek Daveism's through out. Probably it will be devoid of high-school puberty references but still a dirty play on debauchery of some sort... just a bit older slant... Bottom line... Dave's melodic sensibilities will drive Ed's composing in only a way that pairing will work. It will be the "old" magic...
I'm almost moved by this post!

            Tattoo

I'm not sure if the new single drops today or tuesday? my gut tells me it will be a quirky yet very catchy song & hookline. something along the lines of black light or perhaps counterblast feel & approach to the lyrics. don't think dave has any tattoo's, so i'm interested to see & hear whats on his mind with Tattoo!!!

Dave has a tattoo on his ankle. I believe it is Huck Finn against the New York skyline.

Didn't Dave have a Kabuki/Elvis tattoo? I know he mentioned that in his book.

DLR's tattoo is of a crescent moon on his ankle, I believe he wrote in his book. Either that, or ZahZoo told me that, because he had a perfect view of DLR's ankle when it was resting on Zah's shoulder!
