Thanks friend - didn't have a bead on that one. Love it even more...1:27:00 US to VH Domination...

    Dave sounds great..

STRANGE how quiet the boards are this evening...

Thanks ARMY for for the years and updates. From a VH old-timer ("Mav" from the VH Uncomp tapes of old - originally organized the VH cassette tapes (yes babe back in the day) that have since circulated about...VHML 1996)

Yeah, I know. Could've done without the Van Hagar album covers.

That's a disturbing trend I have noticed on rock records over the last few years. I read a quote that most producers these days try to "Make everything louder than everything else". What you really end up with is a shitty, muddy album that's unlistenable at more than moderate volumes.

Yeah, I think crap like that has made artists lazy and the end product reflects this, consequentially people pick up on this at some level and their reaction is lukewarm. This and the permeation of every waking second of our adult lives by cell phones have killed the music industry. Grownups are like two year olds these days who can't go for five seconds without talking to another needy-assed person. BUT I think a genuinely exciting album can get people engaged in music again, even if only between phone calls.

I want an album that is the movie equivalent of "Clerks". IMO one of the most entertaining movies ever made and doesn't need to rely on digital effects (or even color) and production values. Unfortunately most music now is a bloated, fake, over-hyped piece of shit like "Wild Hogs".
Thank God I have my music production firmly rooted in the 1970-80s time frame. I use Reaper exclusively for mixdown and editing, but I do my best to get a decent analog sound.

forgive me, if it was mentioned before or elsewhere, but I just found a snippet worth to share:

                  Ross Hogarth (recording engineer)

“I can finally say that for the last 18 months on and off I have been working on the new record coming out for Van Halen. A Different Kind of Truth is being released Feb 7 and it ROCKS !!!!. You will not be disappointed. We made a rock record and it kicks ass. Trust me.”
                  Cheers,
                  Maggi

Careful... you're messin with sacred ground DJ. One shouldn't deface the cover art for the first book of Roth... It's a religious thing for some of us...

A Different Kind of Truth CD/DVD combo has #4 sales rank on Amazon.com music, despite the fact you can't even buy it yet!
