This must come across as left field because am like every one else dying to hear the new cd , I remember down loading tattooo , i loved it straight away but after giving it a proper grilling over a week i heard things i hadnt heard before and apreciated it loads more. were am going with this is it almost makes me wish instead of the the cd coming out they should release a track a week .
It would give me time to savour and appreciate each track rather that just belt the cd outover and over.

Nah fuck it give me the cd now !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    fuck your fucking framing

If it's being released down under on Feb 3, Interscope may be forced to move up the release date in North America if they want to maximize sales and avoid having folks download it for free online - not that there's anything wrong with that

I disagree with the "nothing wrong with that" if you are advocating pirating a copy... How hard is it to wait a couple of days and cough up $12-15 to buy a legit CD or download..?

There are times... showing a little class is cool.

I thought he meant nothing wrong with Interscope releasing it early.

His post could read either way... don't want to encourage anyone to go butt-pirate and steal a copy.

Of course aligning the release date globally by moving the release date up in the US would be excellent. I suspect it's a matter of product delivery dates... which appears shipping logistics have a shorter lead time down under. But it's odd that Interscope would release digital download copies a couple of days earlier. As we saw with Tattoo even with distribution restrictions in New Zealand... many of us in the US were able to purchase it a day early...

Dude, what the heck are you talking about? I've already pre-ordered and paid for the deluxe edition, paid for Tattoo, and dished out $330 so the wife and I can see the show on March 15.

To clarify - I certainly have no problems with the album being released 4 days early.

I don't want to hijack this thread and turn it into a discussion about online-piracy, but don't tell me that you won't give the tracks a listen if someone from Australia happens to upload the songs to YouTube while we're waiting for the album to drop in North America...someone will eventually do it, and we'll all be lining up to give it a listen.

The whole download-piracy thing is still an unfortunate blow landed on the nose of the music industry. Stomping it out will forever be like putting a volcano out with a garden hose. As much as Lars Ulrich is a jack ass, I admired his stance against Napster and the like. Ed even felt close to deterred from releasing anything again because of piracy as he stated in Guitar World (the one where he was pissed that nobody liked the 3 songs with Sammy in'04. Uhg.)

Thanks for clarifying... wasn't implying you had pirated anything, but thanks for all the details on your current VH investments. BTW what's for dinner tonight?

It seems hard to believe. Is that how it happened back in the day? Australia gets the releases first? I can't remember. Hope that guy at JBs wasn't bullshitting me about the 2nd.

But if the masses DO like it, then the reviewer can have a fallback position of saying, "I had a lot of positive comments in one of the earliest reviews...so see, I was right!!"
Van Halen with Dave was such an eclectic band and people have their own ideal view of the band - so it's impossible for them to please everyone. I'm wondering if it's best to stay off the internet for a few days and discover the album the old school way. Pick it up at the store, take it home and listen to it with a clear mind. By the time I play it, a lot of the mystery will have gone and I will probably have read over a 100 reviews.
