the vault won't be opened until Ed is long gone and Wolfgang needs money.

More likely when Wolfgang needs "inspiration" for his own band.

"Dudes, check out these riffs I wrote over the weekend"!

It's will be his very own stolen playbook. A personal stash of endless riffs, rhythms, & solos. His musical genius won't be found in his genes, but in his dads garage. The masses will call him brilliant....but we will know.

        We will know.

VH being what they are, the only updates we will hope to have will have to come from producer dude.
We won't hear a thing from the sisters or Dave.

          Dammit....I just want actual proof.
Damn yeah... Holding my breath, like back in 2007 when the Tour was announced and throughout both legs of it...
We've been there before, but not with a tour behind though (it's been two and a half years since they completed it, that said, there's hope they have enough stuff).
We've had so many abortive hopes that the best thing to do is wait for proof, I agree...

Shanks himself seems very cautious, as he doesn't let much out in his updates - but in the present case, less is more, and in a way his very few words say a lot.

How long will they be in the studio, btw?

The only problem with that is by that time, no one will give a shit anymore.

As greedy as Gene Simmons is, I wish he would pull Ed aside and make him see the light by telling him to get busy releasing that old stuff and quit dicking around. Simmons at least gives something back to the fans. Ed missed the boat a long time ago. With each passing year, the interest gets less and less for it. The only people who want that are us remaining diehards, and we keep getting denied for whatever reason. All of Van Halen's peers have given something back in the way of unreleased music and classic concert footage. It's a damn shame that VH won't follow suit. Ed apparently thinks we'll be perfectly content with overpriced garbage like $25,000 Charvel Art Series guitars and flip flops instead of the good shit.

He appears selfishly greedy for hawking tour guitars starting at $5150 on eBay too. He has the wrong idea entirely.

Yeah, I can just see it now:

"Happy eighty-fifth birthday, chef! Here's a boxed set of rare, unreleased and live gems from the classic Van Halen era! Sorry, but the rest home's DVD machine is busted and they stopped making CD players in 2012. Too bad you lost your glasses and can't see the pictures or read the liner notes, but it's a great package nonetheless. We'll be serving your cake later this afternoon, but your diet doesn't allow you to have any. Now open your mouth and swallow your meds. Alright, who took the poor man's dentures this time?"

I was 12 when I first saw the MTV World Premier of the JUMP video on New Years Eve 1983. Went out & bought the album. Fell in love with Panama, Drop Dead Legs & I'll Wait.

                  I was 12!

I am 4 months in to age 39 now and still waiting for the follow up to my favorite album. I should have known better than to allow "I'll Wait" to be one of my favorite tunes.

Although many disagree....I FUCKING LOVED that they played this on the 2007/08 tour. Such a gem and Dave smacked it right out of the fucking arena.

Let's hope so. Eddie doesn't have the best track record picking producers. (Mike Post???)

I shouldn't laugh though, as I'm probably not all that far behind ya.

I see your point, but I'd have to say yes it is. When they sold all of us the six pack, they were "giving something back" and we gladly bought them. The same thing would apply to a boxset/DVD package imo. Nothing's free in life.
