All-Encompassing Van Halen New Album / Interscope Thread
I was 12 when I first saw the MTV World Premier of the JUMP video on New Years Eve 1983. Went out & bought the album. Fell in love with Panama, Drop Dead Legs & I'll Wait.
I was 12!
I am 4 months in to age 39 now and still waiting for the follow up to my favorite album. I should have known better than to allow "I'll Wait" to be one of my favorite tunes.
Although many disagree....I FUCKING LOVED that they played this on the 2007/08 tour. Such a gem and Dave smacked it right out of the fucking arena.
I was 18 when I heard 'Jump' for the first time. Loved it! Still sounds great today. Still hard to believe they broke up after such a killer album. I think we will get at least one radio friendly tune in the tradition of Jump on the new album, to help make a splash with the mainstream classic rock audience and younger rock fans, many of whom take an interest in the great rock bands of the 70s and 80s.
I too like 'I'll Wait' and if they ever tour Australia I hope they play it.
I just hope that they've written the tunes before entering the studio - otherwise we could be waiting another 27 years.....
I hope they wrote AND rehearsed them, so they can knock this record out within 2 months, and get the goddamn first single on the radio by the end of March, and the album out by the end of May, if they're really going to tour this year.
Van Halen is a "summer" kind of band. Worst thing about that last tour is that it started too late in the year. I couldn't believe I was driving up from Hell to a Van Halen concert with fucking Christmas songs playing on the radio. (The fact that it was the worst fucking rainstorm of the decade didn't help either)

Maybe the Henson Recording Studios are John Shanks' first choice when it comes to make an album... and DLR met him there..
Anything's possible. I didn't know that Henson studios is actually the legendary A&M studio built by Herb Alpert and Jerry Moss. Here is a tour of the place:
