I actually like the buggy pure adoration and worthy. Ed and the striping are both iconic.

But, I was and always have been a DLR fan He wrote everything and more than likely set the tone from every single angle to create the legacy of ED and VH.

Ed is great but he would probably be noodling at some university right now and never would have issued a album if it wasn't for roth.

Eds inability to fit in any other bands or styles of presentation cements that fact.

We will never know but we do know what really happened.

Or I am a cunt and ED also created Roth like some kind of team effort...unreal concept I know.

It sure as hell was a team effort. But Ed would probably be noodling on the guitar in a nuthouse if Dave never showed up. On the same token Dave would probably be mercenary or nude photographer if he never met Ed.

Drugs/Booze are a tool and must be viewed as such only then can you stand on top of the drug and use it properly. Letting it rule your day or as a answer/fix can be dangerous.

I guess my biggest problem with these latest ventures of Van Halen, are Dave's seeming inability to care as much about the legacy, as I do. He seems more interested in making it a caricature of itself, than he does about honoring it. Dave is performing like it's all about Dave, and little about the songs. If he truly cared as much as I do, he'd have spent the last couple of years of idle time, doing whatever it took to perform these songs the way they should be performed. If he put half the effort into the songs, that he puts into his fucking dog, Japanese culture, and tattoo's, he'd be able to act as goofy as he wants, and still respect the songs, and be respected by the fans. Unfortunately, he'd rather act like the game show host, than the singer of the greatest band ever.

Probably. What a shocker that any live performing act would actually rehearse parts of their show. What will they think of next? This really is the age of abundance and innovation.

These guys are all numb nuts they have no idea the liability of someone on stage who isn't in the script and insured by the production company.

He's always been more about the looks and the attitude than the music. That's no secret. Thing is, there's a time when you have to leave it behind and focus on what the people want. And I mean Really want. And I think it's safe to say that people want Music. Not some kind of tired and washed up act. So yeah, I'm with you.

But he could be so cool if he just owned the stage in a more assertive way, sang in his baritone voice and act like he meant that shit and once again, the music would "look" like it sounds.

Al musicians support the lead singer. that is a band.....or it is a orchestra of noodlings and drum tech for a day seminar.

Dave is up front taking all the heat and he can take a punch or two as we saw on Kimmel.

Sadly this is what happens when you get too big. You become untouchable and people humor your deluded, dumbassed ideas. Some people figure it out, others become a laughing stock without someone to rein them in. What Van Halen needs is someone to kick the door down and say "Sit the fuck down, shut the fuck up and listen. Wolf, you are going to the gym and on a diet, so that when Tremonti opens for Van Halen you will look like you belong in a rock band and not a video game tournament. Dave, you are going to a vocal coach, I expect you to be at band practice AND soundcheck and put some effort into your craft. I'm putting the slip and slide in the dumpster. Ed, today you are going to call Michael Anthony and apologize. Then ask him to come back to the band. Then, the four of you need to report to a studio NOT in your back yard and actually COLLABORATE on some songs, ect........" Not that ANY of this will happen, I think they would walk away well before they accepted anyone's advice.

God, Dave is awful in this one. Loved those harmonics in the beginning, though.. Ed Ripped.

Dave never was a musician or a great singer. He was a public relations guy and a showman and in his prime very good at it. Michael Anthony would actually help make up for Roth's poor singing with his background singing or Ed and Mike would fill in harmonies. It helped Roth big time. With Mike out Roth doesn't have that boost and his voice is shot. The guy is trying but it ain't working. To be honest. I bet Al is loving it. I still think Al doesn't like Dave but they are giving Dave enough rope to hang himself with and Al is getting paid well while it happens. I can't watch folks. It's ugly.
