It seems that they did this before the kimmel show, or did really good to hide any evidence of a sliced nose
Dave just seems very ...um, worldly. I think that's the right one. The VH's are perfectly happy to just play while roth has monkey hour.
That being said, I was relieved at this performance, as well as kimmel. His voice is rough, gravely but he seems more conscious of himself and backs off before he loses it but my fuck why does he have to even try at this point? Sing the goddamn melody and not make up some soprano nut squeezing horse shit!
However, based on these performances, if the first couple of rounds in the tour go off with a good start then I will most definitely go see 'em. I wasn't too happy last time around - I took a buddy who couldn't have been any more of a statue and basically didn't have enough money after purchasing the $150 tickets and $30 tour shirt to get properly drunk, call a cab and retreat to a hotel and bang.
Anyway... I agree with both sides of the fence on this one.
Dave at least makes it seem like he knows what he's doing, confidence and swagger and all, and at the end of the day, dave is still fucking cool. At the same time I wish that someone would beat him upside the head and tape him to a chair and force him to watch his 2007-08 performance, clockwork orange style.
2008 was a real party. Blimps, goofy props and giant inflated microphones which he then jumped on and made phallic suggestions with, and a pretty damn cool breakdown to panama with the "harley" sounds - what the fuck happened to that shit?Comment

The guy is a loose cannon. He could pull it off in his younger years but now he can't. Roth freewheels. His radio show sucked because he didn't prepare for his shows and just tried to wing it. I think what people are failing to see is the guy never was a great singer. Now his voice is gone and he's a really bad singer and he tries to make up for it by trying to hit high notes he can't and it makes it even worse. He doesn't do sound checks but the rest of the band does. Every show. I don't know if he's trying to save his voice or what but I think the rest of the band put more effort into it than Dave does.No!
