Once they have your medical profile they can make all sorts of decisions of hat you can eat, what medicine you're on, what job you're fit for etc...
That's why we have states, to avoid a centralized government that ultimately tries to control and manipulate the people...
if i'm in a car accident and unconcious, i WANT the hospital to have access to all my medical records. can that also be abused? yep. but it also can do good.
Your medical records digital or not can be accessed by doctors all over the world with your consent, your families concent or your doctors concent...
If none of them can be reached, a coroner can get them...
You don't need the federal government involved, and if that's your reasoning for giving your private records to a federal beauracracy, you're either insane or getting the wrong information...

but if there's no central database, then there's no guarantee the doctors all get the full picture. i've talked to quite a few doctors who think it will be a tremendous help. i think there's a reason the AMA supports it.
One standard for keeping electronic medical records is a good thing. One standard for billing is a good thing (please God, make it a law that providers must submit a 1500 form or a UB92 for processing). Allowing the U.S. gubment to stick its dick into my medical records is a bad thing.
