When Rachel Jeantel says 'cracker,' it's a cultural thing...
It's a tragic case, but I will continue to go back to the fact that the prosecution had the burden of proving the case beyond a reasonable doubt, and they simply did not do that.
In fact, they didn't come close to doing it, at least in my opinion as a neutral observer.....

I tend to agree with that.
What actually happened in the last moments between Zimmerman and Martin is still a bit murky to me, but I find it difficult to get past the fact that Zimmerman, who was armed, initiated the whole sequence of events. [Zimmerman] could have handled the situation any other number of ways. He could have simply backed off as he was advised by the authorities when on the phone.
My instinct is that Zimmerman probably thought he was doing the right thing in terms of patrolling his neighborhood. He probably also thought Martin was a troublemaker exactly because Martin was a young, black male. I also think Martin was probably kicking the shit out of him, or at least getting the better of him in the physical confrontation prior to the shot being fired.
Now, because Martin didn't run into his house when he had the chance to, does that somehow mean he deserved to get shot? Why should Martin have to run and hide in his house? Didn't Martin have the right to go about his business without being confronted by Zimmerman? On the other side of the coin, I can't help but wonder why Zimmerman didn't just ask Martin if he lived in the complex.
Zimmerman may have been legally exonerated, but broader moral and ethical issues will not abate. Not for me, anyway.
Just seems like such a senseless, needless instance of emotions and circumstances spiralling out of control, ending up with Martin dying. Now that Zimmerman was found not guilty, what is the explanation? Bad luck? Fate? Wrong place at the wrong time? Victim of circumstance? Perhaps.
That would be a gun control policy question rather than a 2nd degree murder conviction though, wouldn't it ??
So as we speak, neighborhood watchmen are packing heat and ready to shoot, even after being ordered to stay put? I'll admit, I didnt follow the trial closely, but the whole thing from the get go just sounds like bullshit to me.
Once again, Florida fucks up on a massive scale. And just like their previous fuckups, it's going to damage far more than their shitty BCE Banana Republic drug smuggling Cuban fascist colony CIA terrorist training shithole of a state.

Hey, I'm on your side when it comes to guns, don't get me wrong....
But just because he's got a gun (legally) and just because he didn't stay put simply does not make him guilty of 2nd degree murder....
