In the tutorial, are we supposed to ignore that every clip sounds bad? Cos I can if I need to...I just need to know what the ground rules are.

Since that's merely your opinion, perhaps you should...you don't have to be into fucking Uber-metal to hear it's nailing that, but it doesn't sound like SRV so you can't relate...

Go to the website and listen to some of the cleaner clips, dummy...

Back to work...

I tried duplicating a couple of tracks w/the 121 mic as suggested in the tutorial vid. I actually like it better than the U87! I also tried EQ'ing the D6 track so that only the LOW-end was really kicking in, reeeeeeally does accent the palm mutes.

Then I threw a couple of electric guitar-specific EQ presets on the 57 and 121 tracks (as well as on the clean PODfarm tracks)...here's a quick bounce of one of them...

Went to the site, but still not seeing it. But at $15, whatever....it's something for you to play around with, I guess. At $100, I'd tell somebody to put that money towards a good amp.

I'd like to thank Shane for taking a couple hours out to make that first video. I know he probably thinks some of the points we're arguing over are probably stupid, but this is the first time the thing's been explained fully.

I understand how this can work within Cubase 5 Studio now that he took the time to actually show it. That was totally cool of him, and much respected. Kudos to Shane! Seldom do programmers or software hacks make a cool thing and then have the intuition to sell it - they think their shit's so hot, it's gonna sell itself because they think it's so totally cool, you'd have to be stupid not to buy it.

Shane's clearly not of that approach, and if he keeps these tutorials coming within the focus of his questions on his forum then I believe he'll achieve some kind of success if he sticks with it because there's lots of cool ideas nobody's addressing with new products.

Farbeit from me to kill his enthusiasm on this new baby: if Jay had half a hemisphere to address some of my questions this thread would be 2 pages long not 20.

I'm still not sold on it even for free, but hope he sticks with it. I am just not the customer for it this year.

Once I get back into the swing of playing I'd like to tinker with it after the holidays let me tune up and recommit some kind of practice routine that I could actually benefit from this.

One thing I'd like to comment about the sound quality however is the vast difference in noise between Shane's crystal-clear PC and Jays: could you two list your hardware:

mboard
ram
cpu
HDD capacity and type of transfer (sata, eide, scsi)?

- thanks in advance. And Jay, if your system is so old you don't know or think it's worth mentioning, I think it is.. upon boot up, press the Pause button and write down the 24 characters-or-so BIOS version and post it?
