I like that dead pause. I was trying to visualize what what the sound's feel was drawing. And the dead stop completely broke my visual made me glance up.

That was the idea, actually...mission accomplished.

There could be a bit of a bass doorway or antechamber between the melodic guitar and the lead.

Actually, in the finished version (as written) there will be a a slapback echo on the primary rhythm track, timed so that the repeats of that last big E chord stop ominously fills in those two beats...kinda like a metal big-band/Lawrence Welk-ian "2, 3....!" Kinda like a musical fist-pump in the intro....

Besides the Army being back up, got some more good news...

Here's another "learn something new every day"...I was still hesitant about using some of the Boogie tracks I've done due to the (while not overwheming, or track-ruining, still inescapable) inherent Boogie noise floor, but in talking to someone at another forum, they offered some great insight...

Digital doesn't need to be hot like tape, unless you're talking digital tape (ADAT). Even then it doesn't have to be too hot.

As long as you're getting more tone than hiss, you're good.

Actually, with PC-based recording, you can even have more hiss.

Let the recording run for a bit at the start to capture the hiss, then use that as a Noise Profile for your Noise Cancellation plugin. Apply it to the entire track once you're done and all you have left is tone.

I mean, I've been getting waaaaay closer to some of the tones I'm looking for replacing the PODfarm speaker emulation in some presets with Recabinet (enough to make the standalone PODfarm tones seem to sound unusable by comparison), but the Boogie tone still just KILLS overall for dirty rhythms...and now I pretty much know I can use it totally without fear of compromising the end result. And I'm already set up to use his suggestion without alteration because since I'm playing junior Pro Tools engineer myself over here, had been starting ALL the tracks with 16-counts so I could have my shit together to start on time...lol!
