so you mix things up here...you start tinking from 1985. dave's career was at his highpoint then when he was in VH, right...it went down a little when he left, right...but the YOUNG dave lee roth from 1977would have made it big anyway! if not with ed and his sister then with another band. believe me, people like him appear every 10 or even 20 years, like elvis, jagger, mercury...he would have made it...don't compare the mid 30 roth with the one starting off...ed needed dave more to BECOME big...it was easier to stand there with the name VAN HALEN and pussy pop music...no big thing to sit on top of a mountain if somebody has carried you all the way up...
