Its a matter of opinion. Certainly debatable. Cobain is a polarizing figure to say the least, but you cant deny when they pegged the "spokesman of a generation" tag on him (as they did) , it must have been a burden that he didnt like to have. He IS an icon, whether you love or hate his music, history has already shown that. As far as musical thievery, he never denied it, and thats pretty commendable. Zeppelin did it a lot. And even Edward himself - VH 2 owes a MAJOR debt to Billy Gibbons. "Push Comes to Shove", play that next to the Stones' "Miss You". "Panama" and AC DC's "Dog Eat Dog". "House of Pain" and the riff to "Stone Cold Crazy". The list goes on..... even the greats nick the riffs.

Christ , he could'nt even stay sober for the event. Shame.
Im sorry, did you get back the results of Edwards blood sample from NAMM already? Jesus Christ.

One of my friends cleaned up when his wife said it was the bottle or her. Ed chose the bottle and it's pretty sad when he has a son growing up watching daddy self-destruct.
Actually, Ed seems to be better and looks better than he did in 2004.

I know alcoholics who found a way out and others who can't. If quitting drinking was as easy as choosing between "something and the bottle" then there would be a lot less alcoholics in the world. I am sure that being in the profession Ed is in makes it even tougher because of all of the time and money he has on his hands. Also, Ed's father had a drinking problem (which I think is what eventually did him in) and this often runs in families.

You are right, but I have sevral alcoholic friiends who got on the wagon and they have no sympathy for an alcoholic.

What we're seeing now is Ed after years of hard-core substance abuse. His mind is fried, his body is burnt, his spirit is broken, and I think it's fairly obvious. Some are saying 'Ed's back'. I don't see it.

I don't know too many 51 year olds with a toned body like Ed's.

He must do something physical. Ed looks like the construction worker type who smokes a lot of ciggies. He does look like a roofer or a landscaper. If he just sat around 5150 drinking beer he would look like Wolfie.

I was actually reffering to the 1990's when looking like a bum or a hippie was back in style. Cobain had the bum look down pat.

The guy added a ton to rock guitar when he was in his prime. I'll never forget the first time I heard Mean Streets with that awsome funk slap intro. Nobody has blew my mind like that since.

It's obviouse the man has no backbone or ethics. He's selfish and his life revolves around him. Whoever is sparking his intrest at the moment is his "Soulmate" and what company he is working with at the moment "Is the best!"

Ed will stab guys like Michael Anthony, David Lee Roth, and Sammy Hagar in the back. He's Judas man. He will fucking sell you down river because he has no loyalty to anyone but himself. His wife got so fed up with him she bolted after 20 plus years of putting up with his bullshit.

Now Ed has gotten in bed with a huge corporation. It's fitting, Ed is a lot like corporate America these days. He will turn on you at any moment because you are expendable and loyalty and ethics are nowhere to be found .
Have to agree with ya, unfortunately. The tapping shit is just plain boring and he really did just go through the motions and tap all the same old patterns, I know he basically invented that shit but move on. The first 6 records were always anticiapted because you knew Ed was going to introduce some mind blowing new vocabulary to the guitar. He was such a good rhythm player, I would have prefered just to hear him riff away than wammy dive bombs and the same old stuff.

The tone was good though, better than that 6L6 shit sound he has had for years. I dunno, fuck it.

I watched the 7 minute clip.

I don't want to rain on the parade, but this sounds just a bit better than the complete shite he played on the Fleece the Fans tour in 2004. That ain't saying much.

Also, from the way he was talking it sounded like he was extremely drunk.

I don't think this is a good sign.
