I wouldn't be surprised if the Super Bowl rumor started up again too.
After the last two Super Bowl shows (The Black Eyed Autotuned Notalents and The Two Old Farts who used to be half of The Who) they need a decent headliner for 2012.Eat Us And Smile

Seriously? I thought that was just a rumor someone started.
Madonna??? Fuck they actually had a decent streak going there for a while of bands that actually played musical instruments. Hope they didn't change that just because What's Left of The Who were so awful. Because the Black Autotuned Peas were far worse.
No need for a 55 year old Madonna to be on stage lip syncing. For the love of god this better be a fake story. Or else MTV -now that they finally brought back Beavis and Butthead - will have to resurrect "The Butt Bowl". Not like that's gonna help if you don't have fucking cable.Eat Us And Smile

Is this about vh? This is from today's Grammy press release:
"In addition to unveiling nominations for the 54th GRAMMY Awards, "The GRAMMY Nominations Concert Live!" will feature a special, live announcement from a truly iconic group regarding their historic band reunion set to take place on the GRAMMY stage on Feb. 12, 2012. "
The word "reunion" got me guessing. Either it's not vh or that the 20-something PR writer doesn't have a clue about vh."If you want to be a monk... you gotta cook a lot of rice...”Comment

The problem is... Now, when was the last time the VH brain trust announced anything like that in advance without kicking and screaming (they didn't even put up any reference on their own web site about the ill-fated Soundwave thing until they were goaded into it by the promoter), let alone displayed any sort of ability to think roughly 3 months into the future?

When the Stones signed with Columbia in the 80's, they made an appearance on the Grammys. Of course they didn't actually play live, because this was the beginning of that three year period where Mick & Keith wanted nothing to do with each other. And CBS was thinking they just spent a shit load of money signing a band to only get one record out of them. Wonder what the label's thinking this time?
At least with the Stones, they got to rerelease the back catalog right at the time that CD's first became the mainstream audio format. Doubt they got the VH masters away from WB.
Anyway, the point here is that there IS a historical precedent here of a band signing with a CBS label and getting a Grammy appearance to go along with it. Just hope the outcome is different this time.Last edited by FORD; 11-04-2011, 12:28 PM.Eat Us And Smile

Van Halen to make announcement at Grammy Nominations November 30th?
Van Halen to make announcement at Grammy Nominations November 30th?
Friday, 4 November 2011 The website Hitfix.com is speculating that VAN HALEN will be the band rumored to make a “special live announcement” at the November 30th Grammy Nominations Concert in Los Angeles!
From Hitfix.com (our emphasis is in bold):
Ludacris and Sugarland join Lady Gaga and Jason Aldean at Grammy Nominations Concert
“So is it Van Halen? That’s our guess. A very cryptic message from The Recording Academy, the folks who bring you the Grammys, came out today, announcing more acts for the line-up for The Grammy Nominations Concert Live. The hour-long program airs Nov. 30, live from Los Angeles’ Nokia Theater, and, in addition to announcing nominations for the Feb. 12 Grammy Awards, the special will feature appearances by a number of acts.
Added to the previously named Lady Gaga and Jason Aldean are Ludacris, Lupe Fiasco and Sugarland (we wonder if we’re in for a reprise of Ludacris joining Aldean for the rap on “Dirt Road Anthem?”)
Toward the end of the announcement, the Recording Academy slipped in that the TV show will “feature a special live announcement from a truly iconic group regarding their historic band reunion set to take place” at the Grammys.
Here’s why we think it’s Van Halen: the band — i.e. the David Lee Roth-fronted version — has recorded new material with John Shanks, although when we asked the producer about it a few months ago, he buttoned up tight, but he smiled big. Plus, other outlets, like The Hollywood Reporter, assert that the group has already inked with Columbia Records for the new set, although the label isn’t talking. So… if there’s a finished album, or nearly finished album, in the can, the Grammys would be the perfect place to debut the first single.
My mind instantly assumed it was a rock band, but it could be some other genre.”
This was followed up by a tweet from the official Grammy’s twitter account later that day:
TheGRAMMYs:
Who do u predict the reuniting band will be @ #GRAMMYnoms? grm.my/vH7p3Y Does this hint make u wanna “Jump” & “Dance the Night Away”?
To summarize, “The iconic group” will make a live ANNOUNCEMENT during the Grammys Nomination Concert (Nov. 30th) about their reunion. The Grammy’s tweet strongly implies that the mystery band is indeed VAN HALEN. Is this just dishonest hype? Or will Van Halen really appear at the Grammy Nominations Concert on Nov. 30th?
So unless the Grammys are lying, November 30th is the date that Van Halen will publicly announce their new album and tour!Comment

??????
So someone at the Academy tweeted this?
I have to say this......they cannot call this a "reunion" unless Mikey is back with them. They already "reunited" wif Uncle Dave in 2007. So if they are saying it is a "reunion" that can only mean one thing.
Christ....I mean, it was cool enough they got 3/4 of the band back in 2007, and I have to take such thoughts with a grain of salt, but good god....if Mikey gets back in, the whole music world is going to go fucking apeshit, including yours truly!!!Comment
