relax kids...back in the days we were fans, went to the concerts and bought the albums that came out every once in a while...and were happy if we got a line about our band in a magazine or a pic somewhere...
did we hear about the band on a daily basis? did we get a studio update about how many tracks or riffs or whatever were already recorded? nope...
now it seems that everyone is sitting in front of a fucking monitor chewing his nails and holding his breath for a twitter-message..."hey, news from =VH=, Alex just farted..."
it's been 27 years...so why bother waiting another couple of weeks without knowing jackshit about what's going on in =VH= land...Roth Army Icon

That's a valid point, but as you said, outside of a blurb in a newspaper or magazine, there really wasn't anything else back then....
But nowadays, it's so damn easy for bands to stay in touch with their fans, it's almost TOO easy.... But for whatever reason, VH (read: Ed) simply refuses....
Facebook is just one example....
If you follow bands like KISS, Aerosmith, Cheap Trick, AC/DC, Iron Maiden, or several others, you get several and sometimes a couple of dozen entries every week.....
Now is it stuff related to a new album ? No, not all the time.... But if not they'll throw in other news bits, or other video clips, ANYTHING....
But it's not just fact that they aren't speaking now, it's their entire lack of providing anything online to their fans....
NOTHING on their official website since December 29, 2009.....
NOTHING of substance on their official Facebook and Twitter pages since the same day....
NOTHING except hawking his stuff and holiday greeting from Ed on his Facebook and Twitter pages....
Wolf used to have at least something of a Facebook page, until Daddy I'm sure told him to delete it....

It's simply absurd. Even an NBA star can share whatever mundane trivialities are going on in his life with up to the minute "updates" like "Just had a ham & cheese sandwich, Gulden's mustard is the stuff!". In the meantime, Van Halen has grasped the new wave of technology with such utter befuddlement that even the minor act of updating a holiday greeting on the band's official web site after two year's work proves to be an insurmountable task.Last edited by chefcraig; 02-18-2011, 10:09 AM.
