Tell me about it... I have a daughter who was born around the same time VH III came out. Odds are real good she'll enter high school this summer before we see another VH record. I've owned 3 different homes in 3 states and just about doubled my career growth in the same period.

You forgot to mention the musical side of things: 2 screechy porn instrumentals, along with 3 new "songs" that were so crummy, calling them half-assed would be a compliment.

It really doesn't take a degree in psychology to surmise that Ed has a head full of bad wiring.

The dude was barely able to keep his shit together for a US tour...I mean, the dude kinda scraped by at times just in terms of being able to play his old material well, and was unable to stay sober for the whole tour. Simply put, the dude isn't able to handle his drugs and booze anymore.

It's been nearly three years since that tour ended, and nada in terms of anything new.

Even assuming there will be an album released, the longer it takes the less enthusiasm I have it will produce anything worth hearing.

Even with Roth back, things are just too different. That chemistry (personalities, age, time, era) responsible for creating that 6-pack stuff is...the circumstances are too different now. Back then, the band had to summon their own energy and fury to climb the mountain and reach success. Nowadays, all they have to do is shill out the oldies and get a ride to the top via a ski-lift.

Dave sounds game and Al still has the skills, but Eddie...I wouldn't bet on him pulling off a real comeback (i.e. one that produces music worthy of CVH) these days. 1996, they still had a shot. But the years since have seen EVH piss it away, and nobody other than the Van Halens (not Hagar, not Cherone, not Mike Anthony) is to blame for that.

You are right, Terry. IF anything makes it out of EdVille onto CD, don't expect anything groundbreaking or earth-shattering---those days are gone.

I expect some sort of cover -at least 1, just to get someone to notice that they're still alive. Something to get played on classic rock radio, because that's their demographic now. The Slipknot and Avenged Sevenfold crowd could care less.
