Didn't they do a private (company?) gig at some point in '07-'08?
Why settle for something you have, if it's not as good as something you're out to get?

The Florida private show was indoors at the Orange County convention center.

I read that EVH brought it up in a drunk conversation with Jimmy Barnes in '86 or '87, despite the fact that Hagar was in the band at the time, so I'm not sure that it was ever a real possibility - it would have been awesome though. Eddie should've called him instead of Gary Cherone a decade later, that's for sure.

As an aside, I am a huge Jimmy Barnes/Cold Chisel fan, so naturally, I'm very happy that he was announced to be part of this festival as well. It sucks that Barnes and Cold Chisel never 'made it' outside of Australia and New Zealand - though it probably makes sense, because their music is very Australian-centric pub rock. Nobody could have replaced Dave, but I think Barnsey and Eddie could've made a solid album or too. He can wail, that's for sure:

Jimmy Barnes one and only claim to fame in the US was his collaboration with INXS. And if I remember correctly, nobody here had any idea who he was, and half of us thought it was Brian Johnson of Ac/Dc singing on the damn thing. (Their voices are kinda similar)

Yup, he wore that Hellraisers t-shirt all the time on the 2006 tour. Unfortunatly for me, my 2 shows were cancelled due to illness. It would of been the 5th last city he played before going back to Van Halen.

The last 2 solo shows he ever played were in Calgary and Edmonton, Alberta, in Canada. Also, the Emerald Queen Casino in Tacoma was one of his final solo shows. He also played a huge festival in South America, with GnR.

You can usually tell the year and tour by his clothes and haircut. In 2005, he often wore a white jacket and his hair was darker.

Angel City also made a minor splash in North America. I wonder what ever became of them, they had a few cool tunes.

I had no idea who Angel City were, then I realised you were talking about The Angels, who had to release albums under a different name internationally, presumably due to copyright.

To answer your question, their lead singer Doc Neeson continues to tour as a solo artist. Most recently, I saw him open for Motley Crue and Bret Michaels in 2011. The Angels themselves are also still touring, but with new lead singer Dave Gleeson, who was part of the band The Screaming Jets. I went to a KIX show when I was in Baltimore last December and I spoke to a guy there who was a huge Neeson/Angels fan. I didn't realise that people outside of Adelaide knew who they were.

Given the other Australian names on the Stone Festival bill: Noiseworks, Ian Moss, Icehouse, etc., I wouldn't be surprised to see Doc or The Angels added in a subsequent announcement.

Am I ever going to see your face again is a great live tune. The common crowd response of 'no way, get fucked, fuck off' is a bit cringeworthy, though:

Barnes had a minor hit with Working Class Man, from the movie Gung Ho.

There was another INXS/Barnes track on the Lost Boys soundtrack, Laying Down The Law. Good song...but then I was/am a big INXS fan and slightly biased.
