P.S. Be careful what you wish for. Just because the opportunity is there doesn't mean they should act on it if it does any more damage to the Mighty Van Halen Legacy which to date is untarnished where Dave is concerned.

Dave would never have Ed's respect and at this point would do little more than hinder any creative process that remotely resembles the Van Halen we all know and love.
but they were jamming in 2000 (or thereabouts)
or so i've heardComment

agreed! The legend is untarnished and the 2 tunes in 96 were amazing! It gave us a glimpse of what we can expect. After all the things we have heard about this tour etc etc. Do you think Ed's lackluster playing and overall "attitude" is because his heart wasn't in it? Sam was the second choice. Didnt they want Dave to do a 2 singer tour and he said no? He probably told them " go do your farwell to sam tour and when your ready to kick-ass call me!! I ready to go, go ,go!!!!!Originally posted by Cathedral

Well...that's the news that's going to make my month! I think the best news to get excited about at this point is the fact that all signs are positive towards the ending of this tour and Sam's exit...this does not necessarily mean that Diamond Days are here again, but this is potentially a great step in the right direction towards that end.
The sheep can deny all they want, but the evidence is pretty clear that Sam is ending up being the odd man out on this tour...getting along only with Mike from most reports...Ed's unreliability...Alex trying to pilot everything along on his own...lackluster sales of BOBW and less than steller audience attendance for a reunion tour that should have had ticket sellouts across the board...
The American public has spoken (or NOT), and the results are pretty much unanimous - as a whole, only the diehards are interested in a Sammy Hagar fronted Van Halen. The casual fan who would definately show up for a Roth fronted Van Halen will not for Hagar.
Like I said, though, I don't think that we should get our hopes up just yet. Depending on Alex to row the boat has left Edward in a state of general disinterest in the band, as visible by his demeanor on stage and his drunken public antics. If Alex doesn't actively "look for that new singer" or "want to work on new music", neither will Ed...if that's the case, I'd expect Mike to start spending even more time with the Waboritas until he quits Van Halen outright in favor of joined Sam's crap-ass excuse for a band. At that point, my guess is that we'd probably watch Van Halen fade away quietly into the night...which wouldn't be an entirely bad thing, possibly; it may well tip Ed and Al into the position of releasing shit from the vaults as a means of keeping their royalties afloat, in addition to that rumored EVH solo album as a possible in the future...
It's GREAT news, but we'll have to wait to see how the whole thing plays out.Twistin' by the pool.Comment

IF any of this is true, how would you guys feel about Mike not being involved?
I can't see him staying if the fat, red motherfucker is out.Comment

he'll stay with VH. They have always been his meal ticket. Besides, the $$$$ and publicity gained from a Dave tour will be immense. Who wouldnt want to be part of that!Originally posted by distortion9

He may go if no Dave stuff comes about though. Look ma! I'm a Waborita!Comment

Exactly what I was saying. If there's no Dave reunion on the horizon, Mike'll bolt for the Wabo's and that fat bitch Hagar's got with him now will be promptly shown to the door.
If a David reunion looms in the future, Mike'll stay; he knows it, Ed and Al know it, and Sam knows it, too, but it wouldn't surprise me to see Mike showing up with the Wabo's anyway, from time to time.
I wonder how the Links is taking this :DTwistin' by the pool.Comment

I can't see a reunion with DAVE without MIKEY. DAVE has complained over the years about EVH wanting to replace MIKEY. I believe that DAVE is loyal to the original lineup, regardless of the personal animosity between the individuals. CLASS ACT that Mr. ROTH.Comment

i agree totally with post. but good riddance van hagar.Originally posted by Cathedral
Great news that things are coming to a close, but i still hold firm that Dave doesn't need this shit.
Edward is barely half the player he used to be, he has a lifetime of practice being a Guitar God to the peep's, yet his performance dictates that he has lost it.
To me that is not a recipe that makes a Van/Roth reunion worth the paper a contract would be printed on.
As i have said before, I hope Dave avoids them like the plague.
The last thing we need is Dave being involved with what Ed has been pulling off this whole tour, which ain't shit.
It doesn't matter if it's true or not to this fan, I'm against a reunion because the time has come and gone.
And after being cast as second rate (meaning Spam was back before Dave) It would be below Dave to return.
Too much water not only passed under the bridge, the bridge itself got washed away.
Dave would be better off leaving things to memory because even though some fans would be stoked, Dave would never have Ed's respect and at this point would do little more than hinder any creative process that remotely resembles the Van Halen we all know and love.Comment

Well, I just e-mailed this Shazzam dude, asked him if anything official was going up on the website, or, if it's bullshit, to e-mail me back on it....if and when I hear something back, I'll post it here.
Probably be official by that point, but still, things like this are why you all love me

I totally agree with you guy's .
If Mike is not involved, it's not VH even WITH Dave. I'm sure Mike would WANT to be involved....It's Ed and Al that bother me.
Those two crazy fuckers just don't seem to get it.
Everybody BUT those two know you need all four ORIGINAL members in for this thing to work.
For some reason I'm thinking the "Mike issue" has been the one thing that's been fucking up the real reunion.Comment
