Keeping the name "Van Halen" alive AT ALL, at this point, requires David's presence in the band - signed, sealed and delivered. Not one of these "Baby Steps", "One Day at a Time" bullshit deals, either; all things solid, concrete and definate! Album, tour, and goodbye.

I don't likely see that happening...not with Alex's frame of mind, anyway. Not anytime in the near future, at any rate.

David himself is probably so fucking fed up with it, I don't even think he'd be interested (but of course only David speaks for David, not I, nor anyone else on this planet...).

I'll just be happy that Hagar's gone. That's all. The fact that this reunion has failed, Hagar's unhappy, Ed's drowning, the album hasn't sold and this tour has performed up to about 40% of what was expected at it's onset serves only to prove to the Sisters that David was right about his importance to Van Halen all along. Let that thorn stick in their side for the rest of eternity.

Most importantly, LET US BE VINDICATED.

Man...that was one quick waste of a year, wasn't it?

The "Early Years" DVD, the rumors, the tour announcement, the cruddy three new songs, BOBW released, the listliss and uninspired tour, "Live W/Out..." DVD, and now...DOINK!!!

And I honestly do not believe we are even one step closer to Dave's return.

Guess the sisters feel that ultimately they have all the time in the world.

IMHO, they are wrong about that.

Honestly, I do. I'd still like to see this thing, this whole Van Halen Adventure, go out on a high note. Sorry, but there it is...and them playing "Jump" at the RNRHOF induction ain't gonna do it for me.

DAVE OR THE GRAVE, MOTHER FUCKERS!!! :D

I'd like to see Dave come out with some kickass solo stuff again. Maybe have Ed as a guest guitarist then that would be a good step to a reunion as it should be. Once Shemp and the record label realize the amount of buzz that would create.

Might work. As far as generating buzz, it definately would, no doubt about it...

Come to think of it, thats probably what the Roth/Spam tour did in terms of this phony reunion. It inspired the VH brothers to get off their ass. I remember the Coverdale/Page album was pretty awesome and they had a tour planned and everything. For years Page was saying no Led Zep reunion, then he caught wind of that album and said, know what I should be doing that. That's what got him off his ass.

I'd rather not hear another note from Ed ever than hear one more suicide inducing Spammy tune.

Pretty good point there, but Dave doesnt feel threatened by Sammy. Plant didnt really feel threatened by Coverdale, but he definitely was annoyed by him. It's a completely different situation. Alexis Van Cuntlips will never allow Dave back into the band.......

You mean Plant I take it?

Yeah, true, but I don't want to see a "Roth/Van Halen: Unplugged" CD or some other bullshit, not that same route that Plant and Page did. I would prefer it being Van Halen (all 4) or naught...

Maybe this'll end up being a good thing for Spam - maybe once he's done with Christmas this year, he can finally get a major label record deal and record that "outstanding progressive and HEAVY" Planet Us project with Neal Schon, Slash and Joe Satriani!!

Yup, can't wait for that one.

Agreed. Van Halen is done. I don't blame Roth for stearing clear of that trainwreck.

*** True thats what I meant, sorry Plant, not Page*** and I'm just dreaming up what the only scenario I can think that will lead to a reunion. I want a full on reunion too-don't get me wrong. But right now, Ed has to prove himself, to prove he can still do it. Otherwise you're right Roth shouldn't go near it.

There may be hope for a Roth fronted VH that doesn't look/sound like an exasperated sigh and a "Fuckin' A, folks, here! Now shut the fuck up!" scenario on behalf of the brothers...I'd as soon stay away from that, too...

Maybe if David made his way up to Howdy Doody Mountain, he'd piss Ed off enough to get him actually PLAYING again...

Ed still needs more practice, thats for sure, but at least he is playing. There is still some hope ! :D
