Did you really just say this out loud?

I'm not going to presume to tell spED or Dave what to do...

I will presume to tell myself not to participate in it...

ok, if this is going to be released in the "latest" GUITAR WORLD, let's speculate how long ago the interview actually took place? Ed's always been open with that mag and has consistantly done interviews with the publication over the years.

I'm just wondering IF the time tables might infact have to do with Dave's "anual" call that he makes to the sisters at the first of the year and apparantly has done for evey year?

All we know drom Dave is that back when he was doing his radio show he (Dave) DID state that he'd spoken or had been speaking to Alex.

I'm thinking the timing seems fitting regarding this entire sitch folks. Also and after both this snippet and EVH on Stern, there's NO CHANCE of Anthony being either considered nor wanted whatsoever regarding this project.

Again, I know many think of it as a bad thing (myself included) that Anthony will not be involved. However, he's (Anthony) so fucking tied to the hip (and goodness only knows as to what else?) with his "Other Half" a'la Roy Hagar that I honestly breathe a sigh of relief not having him (Anthony) around. That even makes the chances slimmer of both Hagar and Dave EVER sharing the same stage in a Van Halen related fashion. Hopefully, that includes the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction cos Hagar does NOT deserve to be there as a member of Van Halen!!!

It's the six pack that should be celebrated ONLY cos that's the ONLY contributions that Van Halen made to rock and roll history. As Dave said in his book when someone mentioned the '96 fiasco as "just another chapter in the Van Halen saga." To which Dave replied "NO!!! Classic Van Halen is the whole book. The rest are disposable chaptersd and end of story!!!"
        EAT US AND SMILE!!!!

Uh...didn't spED have Hagar tied to his hip for 12 years?

Sorry, Anthony is the bassist for Van Halen...period...

whether he played on the albums...or not...

No, I don't goto the shows to see Anthony...

But I DO go to see Van Halen...

            without Anthony...they aren't Van Halen...

I'm not saying they can't call themselves Van Halen...

            or tour...

            or whatever...

what I am saying is I won't acknowledge it...

            period...

              Oh dear Poj...

I definitely wanna continue and engage in this discussion with you further cos I've been arguing it until I'm blue in the face over at the links for a month. lol.

I'm definitely going to go much in the same vein as if it were Page/Plant. I wanna see what, how and IF Dave and EVH can pull off something together at this stage in the game. I might feel differently if I get no new music out of it. Nonetheless, if those two tour and pass through SLC, count my ass in. Number one, Dave hasn't been here since '94 and I've been to every show that he's played here since the 1984 gig. So, why would this not be any different? I'm going to see Dave live, first and foremost.

As for them using the namesake "Van Halen" without Michael Anthony, I really could care less...

I mean, fuckin' A, they friggin' used said moniker for how many years without Dave at the helm? To me, Dave IS Van Halen PERIOD!!!

I also dunno how keen I am on the Wolfie thing but I'm keeping somewhat of an open mind, you know?

Again, for me, it's about Roth. I just hope EVH's chops, not to mention both his sister's along with his child's chops are up for it?

At least for the first time in history, they are being honest about who is actually playing the bass lines :p

Yeah, I know you have Max, I saw your post in here the other day about it...

I won't go see Van Halen without the original lineup...

                  period...

                  end of story...

                  end of discussion...

I went and saw Page and Plant...because it was Page and Plant. They made NO BONES about it not being Zeppelin. They WENT OUT OF THEIR WAY to say it wasn't Zeppelin...

As far as going to see Dave live? I guess if he accepted playing with spED, his crinkle necked brother, and his fat fucking son...shame on him. Perhaps it would have been different IN 1994...OR EVEN 1996. Maybe even 2000, although I think the line really was 1996. What it comes down to is this. Things changed. 1996 was the ultimate power play. Dave came out and was Dave. spED came out and said, "This is my fucking band." It was bullshit, period. They tried again in 2000. Obviously Dave was holding up to his belief that the band was, as you put it, David Lee Roth. They couldn't come together on a percentage...IE...spED wanted Roth in a Anthony range. So now, spED adds ANOTHER fucking Van Halen to Van Halen. Gee...doesn't fit in the power play...does it? So...Dave agrees to this...

and you just have to ask one question if he does...

"Is it really that bad Dave, that not only have you waited ten years for Van Halen, but got RE-PUSHED out in 1996 so Ed could tell you it was his band and not yours, couldn't come to an agreement because of Lawyers in 2000, because you wanted to make sure to let spED know that it's at least as much a part of yours as it is his? Now you agree to join with a Fat fucking teenager playing base? And it's spED's kid?"

That was more like 10 questions in one...

They used the moniker, sure...they used it...but the aforementioned moniker of Van Halen means absolutely nothing now...the name is dogshit to the world. For years I said, yeah, but they don't get it...there's still the "six-pack." Well, you shit long and hard enough, eventually the shit seeps into the whole fucking yard...

As far as having an "open mind" for Wolfie...it's not about being good, bad...happy or sad. That's all fine and good. Go, think he's wonderful, and the next Amadeus wunderkind of all kind. Personally, I could care a less. If Wolfie someday tours as some kind of Elephant Troop of base players, maybe I'll catch the sideshow. Seriously...I don't want to see anything that the kid plays under the name of the band I went to see 22 years ago...before he was even a fucking glimmer in his Dad's eye.

                  VAN HALEN ISN'T FUCKING MENUDO!

Sorry folks, I'm not going to fucking buy into the passing down, or changing parts.

And truthfully, I could care a less about Eddie's chops at this point. I have no doubt that he can get it together for a tour. He's Eddie Fucking Van Halen. He's fucking crazy. He's a sociopath. He's a psycho. But he's still the greatest guitar player to ever live.

It's just past all that for me.

I once said, "It's all about the music." But you know what? Somewhere along the line, these fucking idiots, douchebags, nutjobs, made it more than that. They made it about themselves, and their fucking wacked out, ego-driven idiocy, that makes me want to fucking puke.

I always thought that the Hall of Fame would be when they ALL got back together. So we are there...and of course...

                  the new twist.

                  tubaganoosh joins the band.

                  another slap in the face.

                  I'm not here to debate.

I'm just done getting slapped in the face by any of these bitches.

I have fresh new copies of all the originals. I have boots out the asshole of the original.

I don't need some fucking children of the corn version of the band where Eddie, as Malikai, wacks off all the heads of the band members that he sees fit, for new membership.

                  Fuck that.

and Fuck Dave if he tucks his fucking tail between his legs...

                  One Man's Opinion.

                          HOLY MOLY!!!

WOW and what a post indeed...

I'm definitely going to retort but I'd better be careful cos certain people like to cuntsistantly accuse myself of "kissing ass" when I both admit and commend someone (of administrative authority) who happens to makes a great post.

Poj, there are many points to which I agree wholeheartedly and there are parts where my opinion differs.

Still, I cannot help but to ROTMFF and LMMFAO @ this comment...

As far as going to see Dave live? I guess if he accepted playing with spED, his crinkle necked brother, and his fat fucking son...shame on him
                          That 'tis a doozy.

Ummmmm... In many ways, it just boils down to this for me. I'm getting fucking old, raarely, if ever go to concerts, would love to see Dave again if he played here. If the latter happens to include whatever this next incarnation is supposed to be, then so be it and again, I will attend the show.

I know this entire Van Halen saga reached soap opera storylike proportions many years ago. It's a weird thing. It's also a weird thing that we all still and in some way find it interesting and discuss it?

We are in many ways a derranged sort of cult or what have you?

My big beef and gig arguing with people at the links regarding this subject matter has to do with the cuntinuous statement that David Lee Roth was irrealevant to Van Halen, yet Michael Anthony's overall involvement is, has, always was and will forever be what made the band famous and respected to begin with. That point of which I extremely disagree with along with Anthony doing the same shit only going out on the road, playing "Van Hagar" songs whilst claiming that he and McHagar were actually the "Other Half" of that band. Once again, excluding the Mighty David Lee. Fuck, I even read over there that Anthony actually SINGS Roth tunes at some shows!!! Fuccking bullshit IMO!!!

Poj, what IF this Van Halen/Partridge Family (I know the chances are BEYOND minimal but let's just speculate?) "project happened to record some stellar, new music BOTH with Dave as the vocalist AND when they toured, they used another moniker (billing themselves differently) such as The Van Halen's Featuring David Lee Roth. Now and with that being said, my point being that they bill themselves as NOT "Van Halen" could or would you infact even consider or fathom going?
