If you are basing your decision on seeing the band based on your opinion of MA's assesment of Dave's contributions why are you willing to see him with Eddie. Eddie and Alex were the two who said after the 2 songs for the 96 BO that Dave's voice was shot and that he did not have it anymore. They were much more disrespectful than MA ever was. So if you go to the show how would you not feel like a hypocrite.

Dave's voice WAS weak in '96....

He admitted in the book that he hadn't sung in 6 months prior to meeting with them up at Howdy Doody mountain.

The bitch of it was, according to Dave, was that Eddie refused to play the classics in the studio....Dave figured that it would be the perfect way to get his voice up and surfing. But the bros made Dave wait until the new music was written.

Maybe you should get your facts straight before calling people out.

Just a suggestion.

Dave's voice is as strong now as it has been in 12 or 13 years.

I think Daves voice on MWM and AGTSNM fucking kicked ass.

Only a complete fool could have failed to realize that the magic was there once again. Those two songs still rock my world and I just shake my head at what could have been.

Even Eds sound on those two songs was different, he ditched the fucking harmonizer, or at least scaled it back and played his ass off.
He can only play like that with Dave for whatever reason, same as Vai,
with Dave - GREATNESS, without Dave COMPLETE SHITE.

Ed's sound and playing were so good on those two tracks that I always thought that maybe they used leftovers from 1984 or something, definately has that 1984 vibe to it.

I'm not sure what sort of sound they had, album to album, per se...I'd say it was a "natural progression" of the classic Van Halen vibe after 11 years, but...whatever you call it, it was wonderful...

A couple of quick on topic points:
Dave didn’t ask Ed to join his touring band and call it Van Halen.
It isn’t a reunion without the original 4 members.

Alex asked Michael Anthony to join Mammoth so the rumor that Al and Mike are at odds is false.
Dave and Mike would meet for drinks in the late 80’s and even did a photo or two so the rumor that Dave and Mike are at odds is false.
In the old days when the band played the backyard parties and such, Al and Dave would book the shows and Mike had the truck for the P.A.
The guys don’t forget those days…..
They were the road crew, they booked, and they traveled in close quarters to get to a show; any show. This where and how they learned the business.

Absent from any of this was Ed. Ed’s job was to play the guitar. Dave collected the money at the end of a show and Al made was the stage manager and driver. Mike saw to the physical help by getting the gear from the truck to the stage and from the stage to the truck along with Al and Dave.

That’s how it was.

Next point, 1996: Eddie Van Halen used Dave. After VanHagar was falling on their collective faces, that was cheap and mean after barely having money at all in the beginning.

POINT of RANT: EDDIE, YOU BET THE BALL IS IN DAVE’S COURT. AND THERE’S ONLY ONE LITTLE BITCH IN THE BAND. NO ONE WANTS TO SEE CLASSIC VAN HALEN WITH A SON-OF-A-BITCH.

You're right Dloc. Mike probably doesn't care too much for Dave but I think they could get along was my point.

The guys have to be the same 4 and the shit in the hat is that they are lucky enough to still be there for one and other. Some other bands tragically can't do a reunion. It shouldn't be about the fans until they can come to terms with that they still have each other and that should mean a lot more than the dollars we would put in their pockects.

If Mikey's ass is stuck on Shagar's dick and Mikey just can't quit him, then just stay the fuck home guys.

Sidenote for MA: You have the best bass job on the planet with CVH. If you were in another 70's act, you'd be a fucking footnote.
