I'm not tolerant nor understand addiction. Oh, I understand it well, just don’t accept it. I cannot understand how people don't have more control over their life, and can destroy themselves on booze/drugs and being a f--king headcase….then I have to hear about it all the time! Seems like it has become an epidemic in this country, yet we “want” for nothing compared to the rest of the world. I also don’t have tolerance for candy ass entertainer’s and all their personal garbage. Who gives a damn, your paid to entertain, shut the f—k up and entertain, or go kill yourself if that’s what you want to do, just pick one OK!..gs

Addiction comes from not being able to cope with how awful you feel while being sober. I don't mean withdrawal, I mean just being a concious, breathing human, for some people, is almost too much to tolerate because of mental problems - depression, anxiety, panic / fear disorders etc. Sometimes it's a case of choosing death or hitting the booze or drugs for relief. No, Ed needs more than just counseling (he ayss he's had it for 10 years) he needs phamacological help too that can make his fears and depression disappear. The bad thing is that soemtimes meds that can help takes a month to kick in. Ed should have gotten on a recovery path a year ago so he'd be ok now.

Additiction is a real and actual medical condition. It is not something you choose (in reference to your saying some people choose death or hitting the bottle). It is true that addicts often suffer from depression, or myriad of other psychological problems, which can be devestating in and of themselves, but one does not necessarily cause the other. The other thing about the recovery path is that you don't just follow it for a three months or a year or two and then you are "okay"-as if the physical addiction is the only thing you are fighting, and when you get past the cravings, its all good. Addiction is a life long condition which you deal with daily. Its true that being substance free gets easier after a certain amount of time, but addiction is addiction, and it never goes away. Your drug of choice can change: alcohol-gambling; cocaine-sex or whatever... or you can be substance free for teh years and take one drink and be right back to where you started from in that instant. Even abstaining from use does not mean you are going to be okay. Have you ever heard of a "dry drunk". It is where an addict exhibits all the traits of their addicted self, without using a drop. For many people these are worse than the real thing.

Addicts are not necessarily just weak people who make bad choices. They just fight a fight you don't understand unless you have been there. Believe me when I say, it is not a choice. That would be like saying someone chooses to be diabetic. or someone chooses to be born without a foot or an arm. We are born how we are, and some people are able to overcome...some can't. People with hanidcaps who are educated about their handicap, accept it, and have support and motiviation to rise above it can achieve great things. Not everyone is so lucky.

I didnt mean to apply ahving an addiction or a mental illness is a choice. I was just talking about dealing with the problem, and that some "choose" to do the drug or perhaps commit suicide to make it stop. I agree totally that it is not a "choice".

In that case I will agree that totally wasting your life in a drug or alcohol induced oblivion is sometimes the lesser of the two evils.

Don't look now, but It's About Time is currently #6 to Slithers #1:

Slither has been on the charts for 7 more weeks though so hey, you never know... IAT may end up #1 after all...
And at Pollstar, VH is #2: http://www.pollstar.com/news/top50.pl

                            Weekly Industry Charts

Attached is this week’s Charts in which VH’s “It’s About Time” (“ITA”) moved up all charts except one. As stated in my previous post, this was expected and I expect VH’s ITA to continue to move up the charts probably to #1 during this Tour. These moves don’t reflect consumer demand, but reflect CCC & WMG’s “promotional” efforts.

Again, Clear Channel Communication (“CCC”) owns the largest radio network in the U.S. and is the largest concert promoter in the U.S. With their oligopoly position and power they can make “interesting things” happen. Warner Music Group (WMG), who owns VH’s “back catalog”, and is produce their current CD pack release efforts, is one of the largest recording companies in the U.S. and has the “richest” “back catalog” of music in the US. Needless to say, they can make “interesting things” happen also.

Several noteworthy events occurred this week, which I will posted this weekend when I get some time, presume I can access the site? I also have the settlement numbers for the two Wachovia Center, Philadelphia shows I will post this weekend with some brief notes.

PS: Yes, I have pics of Eddie in his VH – I era dud’s and appearance, playing a vintage Frankenstrat during the last 3 shows. Maybe I’ll posts those too :-)
