EVH was/is intimidated by Yngwie...and George Lynch...and Randy Rhoads.....

And remember people...DAVE asked Yngwie to join his post-VH project before he asked Steve Vai........

    food for thought
    That's correct as well...

But Yngwie was too busy making the same album over and over to be bothered by our hero...

    LMAO!

remember that old taped interview where EVH basically shit all over Randy Rhoads? I lost alot of respect for the "humble" Ed around that time...

          Something like that...

I think Edward was intimidated, I sure would have been but I would have answered the phone...

Maybe he was too drunk to answer the phone...

I'm quite sure alcohol played a part...

And Yngwie was still drinking in those days...

They could of been best mates...:D

            Seriously

True. SL is a great guitar player. I also think SL is more of a regular guy than Wingwang. Honestly, I'd have no interest in talking with Wingwang, but I would wwith SL.

I agree that Vai is incredible as a player but find his songwriting to be quite painful. Unfortunately to be rememberd you have to have the songs. Jazz musicians are hands down the best playerse but the general population don't want to think when hearing music.

That was the beauty of CVH. You had Ed tearing it up but backing it up with great songwriting. He layed a great foundation for Dave to do his thing.

The great players are ones who can harness their technique and add the songs. That is why you always see Hendrix, Page, Clapton listed above Beck. Beck is a better guitarist but he could not write a Hey Joe, Black Dog or Layla.

Eddie was afraid Yngwie would unleash the fooking fury on him.

Vai tries too hard. Everything he does is too premeditated. You get the feeling he is not trying to be himself but rather be someone else.

Jimi, Ed, and Yngwie are all true to themselves and are not trying to be something else.

Agree with the rest of your post. Allan Holdsworth and Al Di Meola could definitely give Jimi, Ed and Yngwie a serious run for their money.

Yngwie Malmsteen is the Jean Claude Van Damme of music.
