OK, then. Van Halen does indeed qualify as classic rock, and the Van Halen songs I hear in the usual rotation amount to being "You Really Got Me", "Ain't Talkin' Bout Love", "Pretty Woman" (RARELY), "Jump" and "Panama". Which is five more than Yngwie gets on classic rock radio.

Of course, Yngwie Malmsteen isn't a classic rock artist, so I guess that doesn't really count, either.

Of course he didn't. Keep in mind, though, that Ed was playing as far away from brown sound, smoking solos and heavy rock music as he possibly could in favor of horse shit like "Feels So Good" nonsense.

The point? Ed was living in a dreamworld and surrounded by Hagar who was a complete and utter "Yes Man" in every sense of the word who not only complimented Ed's inherent laziness, he actually MAGNIFIED it (if such a thing is humanly possible).

MY point is that Yngwie, among numerous other guitarists, were BEATING THE SHIT out of Eddie Van Halen on guitar on a regular track in the mid to late 80's...and if anybody denies that, then they might as well go pop on their copy of OU812 and start jamming air guitar to "Cabo Wabo", because they're living in as much of a dream world as Ed was back then...

As a rock music fan, I have no problem stating that the rock and roll hall of a fame is a fucking farce and should be relegated to the lowest points of disinterest by anybody even remotely interested in rock music, period....

And you're welcome to it. But the point remains that Yngwie contributions to the instrument in the 80's, at least to practicing musicians of the instrument and/or fans of the style, CANNOT be denied...Yngwie is a living legend in his own right, even if he doesn't have a bazillion fans (which certainly isn't the case with his overseas fanbase...just because he doesn't sell a million copies in the U.S. doesn't mean he's not a huge commodity overseas).

Yngwie is a nerd, i want to see him party, i want to see if he lives the life. that munschkin probably hasnt fucked a woman decently in his life.
he has never surpassed eddie vanhalen and never will.

he is nothing more than a glorified joe satriani, capable of carrying eddie vanhalens guitar cases and thats it.

his music is boring and has no direction or feeling.

so he can play fast and acurate, find 25 people on this site of thousands who can name 1 song he wrote.

hes a wannabe eddie vanhalen , im sure hes struggled with this for years, im sure he trembles at the mere mention of his name.

wanna see a real guitar player? this guy would eat Yngwie for breakfast.

Roy Clark kicked ass. I remember when I was like ten years old he took my dad and I for a ride on a new turbo prop plane he had just bought. Roy was a piolet.

                            fuckin right he kicks ass.
i have seen roy clark 3 times and every time i have seen him i was always thinking to myself, i wonder if eddie vanhalen has ever seen him.

i was kind of hard on Yngwie in my above posts but it was for one reason, not because i think Yngwie is a hack, but because hes nothing but a sideshow, he doesnt have what eddie vanhalen has or a few other guitarists like roy clark.

Yngwie is one dimensional, hes a hired gun, a freak, good at one thing and one thing only.
eddie vanhalen is the total package, his mind writes songs, great songs.

so until Yngwie has a song that is familiar across the globe, let alone 10 albums, he better take a deep breath kneel down and kiss the kings ring.

the only people on here who would dare say Yngwie is a better in any way than eddie are the same people who are holding out on this tour, the (im not buying a ticket people).
these people would Bitch if they were hung with a new rope, or got a 5 thousands dollar check and couldnt cash it till monday.

what dumbfucks, i hope they are happy as hell when they are sitting home at the stroke of 7:30 and diamond dave is walking on the stage with eddie vanhalen.
what idiots, what the fuck are they here for, conversation?. LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL
                            pathetic.

I would not say Yngwie is one dimensional. He did a rock instrumental CD (Rising Force) that was nominated for a Grammy. He wrote, recorded and performed the world's first and only concerto for electric guitar and orchestra. And he has sold millions of rock vocal CDs all over the world.

As for these people that say Yngwie is not popular, perhaps you do not realize that the US is not the only country in the world. Yngwie just happens to be most popular outside the US.

EVH is more innovative and a better songwriter. Yngwie is a better guitarist. Period. If you can't deal with that I hope you can get your head out of your ass some day.

And by the way I am going to the Van Halen concerts. Van Halen is by far the greatest American rock band ever and I would not miss this for anything.
