Well, I think he sounds surprisingly good, to be 100% honest.

Since my employment is apparently providing me with the whole deal (ticket, backstage, et al), so long as my travel plans don't interfere, I should be in attendance...

          And?

Solo artists, yes, do go through band members pretty frequently...

Ron Keel (in Steeler), Graham Bonnet (in Alcatrazz), Jeff Scott Soto, Mark Boals, Joe Lynn Turner, Goran Edman, Michael Vescera, Mats Leven, and Doogie (Howser) White, for those of you too lazy to look...

In other news, over a 23 year period of time, that's not bad honestly...

              Um...what?

If you're insinuating that I'm of the opinion that Yngwie is a better guitarist than Edward, you're absolutely right...

Like I said, it's just personal opinion. I didn't start the thread, but being a Malmsteen fan, I felt compelled to post in it. I realize I don't have the popular opinion that Eddie is "the greatest guitarist in like fo-evah!!!!", but so be it.

Eddie hasn't recorded much of anything worth listening to since 1983. Fuck it - Eddie hasn't recorded ANYTHING worth listening to since 1983 with the exception of the '96 offering and his guitar playing has been, year after year since 1983, increasingly sloppy, lazy and uninspired.

Yngwie has, by and large, satisfied me with every album.

Eddie's played the same guitar solo since 1986 with almost no variation whatsoever.

Yngwie has done many things over the years that I wouldn't have expected out of him without sacrificing any of what I came to love about him in the first place.

Eddie cannot write anything palatable without the influence and co-writing of David Lee Roth; erego, Eddie is not a good songwriter.

Yngwie is quite capable of composing complex, intriguing and very in depth music alone.

Based on that criteria, the choice to me is clear. My choice is Malmsteen.

And sure, this IS a Van Halen website (I guess)...but at what point do we turn retitle all of the threads "THE EDDIE VAN HALEN THREAD" and/or "THE HELLA-COOL DIAMOND DAVE THREAD" and the "I LOVE EDDIE VAN HALEN AND DIAMOND DAVE!" thread with no variation anywhere to be found?

Hey, if Elvis or Ford or whoever determines it's best kept in another forum, state your take or something, that's all fine...

Make no mistake, I love Eddie...and I love David...but if I think somebody's better than either Eddie or Dave, I'm going to say so...

                      Peace out...

                            Beautifully stated!

Ed fearing Yngwie, is like Jimmy Page being intimidated by CC Deville.
Yngwie cannot write a song to save his life!
