Eat Us And Smile - The Originals
"I have a very belligerent enthusiasm or an enthusiastic belligerence. I’m an intellectual slut." - David Lee Roth
"We are part of the, not just the culture, but the geography. Van Halen music goes along with like fries with the burger." - David Lee RothComment

So do we even know the title of the album yet?
It couldn't actually BE "2.7.12", could it?
Well.... if you really think about it, it just fucking might be. Not sure what the "2" would mean. "7" is obvious, as this is the 7th Van Halen album. However, if you wanted to count all the records that were released under the Van Halen name, you have 6 Van Halen + 4 Van Hagar + VDIII = 11, which would make this "12".
Or does this only make sense after a shit load of Snow Cap Ale?
No shittin'.
In these times of austerity, we can trust VH bring the love ...THINK LIKE THE WAVESComment

In my eyes, Dave's laughter, ad-libbing and changing the lyrics on the fly made the first five Van Halen albums (and to a lesser extent 1984) absolute works of art, sort of "time and place" type albums, much like the Rolling Stones' "Exile on Main Street". I'm afraid that the new album will be too perfect, too obsessed over and too clean. In the modern age of Pro Tools and Mac Books we get too many perfect albums that feel like NOTHING AT ALL. Like a Big Mac (at best) that always tastes the same versus a great bottle of single barrel bourbon which tastes like no other. Here's to hoping the new Van Halen album is imperfect, unplanned and maybe even a little sloppy.
What would you like to hear the new Van Halen album sound like?
I'm really hopin' it's old school arrogance ---- demos from the club days updated slightly for 2012. Lots of distortion and feedback just like that '78 Marshall Plexi Super Lead 100 getting pushed to the breaking point. That fuzzy brown sound and cocky attitude put an extra layer of fur on your nutsack!Comment

Vocalwise I'm hoping Dave soesn't have to sing highpitched a lot of the time like he had to on CGTSNM and MWM. It doesn't really suit him that good, and it gives him no room to play around with his vocals. Productionwise I'm hoping the recording isn't drenched in loudness like a lot of the new rock/metal albums are, rendering them virtually unplayable at high volumes.Comment

First-time poster, long-time gawker! I got big ambitions for these tunes... I really believe the music biz won't be the same after VH unleashes this thing! When was the last time we heard something that was simply jaw-dropping? I truly believe it will be! We know they're more than capable, that's why we're on here, isn't it? And the tour?... Jesus! Ever walk out of a VH show and wonder how EVH just pulled that shit off in one take? Well, get ready...No light at the end of the tunnel, due to budget constraints...Comment
